Driving over there were some nice scenes showing how open and treeless Iceland is.

You can see where you’re going an hour before you arrive.

The canyon leading away from gullfoss had some nice basalt columns, one of my favorite formations to find.

Gullfoss is a huge double waterfall, positioned at right angles to each other.

Clearly the angle you are meant to enjoy from.

Walls of rocks and walls of people.

You could see the mist rising from the falls from very far away. Iceland felt a bit like a poorly made video game. There were clear areas of interest where the quests would be, and not much in between.

I noticed a congo line of jeeps heading off in the wrong direction. I decided to follow for a bit. Glad I did, there were endless fields of these purple flowers. It was amazing to see, but these are invasive Lupines from Alaska.

I went as far as I could with my little rental car, but the road quickly ran out and was for 4x4s only. So next was the Geysir.
