Gothic and ancient.

First thing you’ll see when getting off the train

Scott Monument
There is a valley through the center, which they laid the traintracks and station through. We hiked up the other side to the castle.

From the castle is a street called the Royal Mile. It connects the Kings Palace to the castle and is the main street of the city.

Holyrood Park is a large hill and ridge line next to the city. We hiked up around the ridge and to the top, known as Arthur’s Seat. There were good views up here.

Chippy Sauce
Edinburgh has a unique brown sauce that is delicious. I heard about it before going there and looked for a chippy to try it. It’s like normal UK brown sauce but with way more spices.
In the evening we took a quick train over to Sterling for the next day.
Return trip
A week later I returned to Edinburgh to catch a train back to London. I explored a few more areas near the center.
