Next: Isle of Skye
Prev: Glencoe

This was a travel day that focused around Glenfinnan, a place I saw had a long train bridge through the mountains.

What I didn’t know is that this bridge was significant for a whole other reason.

A bus from Glencoe went to Fort William - a little city near to Ben Davis - the tallest mountain in the UK. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to climb it - I will have to come back.

I needed to catch an early morning train to Glenfinnan - a place about halfway to the Isle where there is a beautiful bridge crossing the valley.

I just wanted to hike around this area, but noticed a crowd forming on the hillside.
Curious, I walked up there and my timing couldn’t have been better.

Five minutes later, the actual train from Harry Potter went across the bridge.

So that’s why everyone was there. It only goes by twice a day, so I got pretty lucky.

The area is pretty.

Continuing on the train I got to the end of the tracks - Mallaig.

Here I could take a ferry across to the Isle Of Skye, my end goal.

After crossing, it suddenly felt much more rugged.
It was barren up here on the Isle of Skye.
