Rotterdam, in The Netherlands, is the largest port city in Europe.

The city center was also mostly destroyed in ww2, and there are a variety of new and interesting modern structures because of it.

Nieuwe Maas

The city was vibrant and based around the river Nieuwe Maas. A nonstop traffic of ships would pass beneath the huge bridges.

Oude Haven Area

We naturally found ourselves wandering to the Oude Haven, a small lake with old ships and a scenic view and lots of people around.

On the lake is a famous architecture project - the Kijk-Kubus houses.

Kinderdijk

Right outside of Rotterdam are some dutch windmills you can visit with a quick ferry ride from downtown.

Riding the ferry through the city was arguably the best part of visiting the windmills.

We spent a few days here and we’re able to relax a bit. A bit less crowded and more laid back than some of the other cities on this trip. We also discovered Stroopwafels here, one of the tastiest snacks of all time.

On our way to our final destination, we made a stop in The Hague.
