Next: Mt Fanal
Prev: Porto Moniz
Seixal is the jewel in the madeira crown.
The place is pretty stunning.
The north coast of Madeira is more rugged than the south - mostly volcanic rock and sharp cliffs.
Seixal is built on a massive lava flow.
First stop was lunch - tuna steak. I feel like I’ll be back on this island just for another one of those.
Just like Porto Moniz, Seixal also had it’s own volcanic swimming pools. I was planning a hike but made a quick decision that I would much rather be down there for the rest of the day.
The waves would come crashing into the pools.
Seixal Cat
On the other side of town, there is the black sands beach, and this incredible view.
You can see the valley where Sao Vicente is in the center there, and some pretty big waterfalls throughout the cliffs.
I made it up to the end of the valley and found a hotel tent in the woods
The plan tomorrow was to do a hike all the way up the side of the valley, to Mt Fanal and back down to Seixal.
